Hi there!
Sorry, I haven't been around. Been so busy with my life and family and yes, am still on my journey. *smiles* I've been cooking a lot of different kind of food for my family especially for me. I borrowed a couple books from the library and even bought a book at Walmart. From the library, I borrowed The Biggest Loser Cookbook and Fast Food Fix. Both are by Devin Alexander. Great recipes. I wasn't able to find the The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook. The reason I was looking for that is cuz there is a recipe called BBQ Bacon Meatloaf. I downloaded it from Devin's site: http://www.devinalexander.com/. It was so good! The book that I bought from Walmart is called 'Hungry Girl: 200 under 200.' It's a book of 200 recipes under 200 calories. Oh my goodness. So many yummy recipes in there. You can use this book and pretty much eat 5 to 6 times a day just using her recipes and not worry bout going over the limit of your calorie intake.
I have been eating at most 1600 calories a day. The minimum for me is 1400 and maximum is 1800. No more or less than what I choose cuz I don't want to go overboard. It's already hard for me cuz I don't eat enough calories. Hard to believe, huh? The majority of the people have the wrong idea about me of why I am big. They think it's cuz I eat all the time. NOT SO! Trust me, I don't eat all the time. Well, actually now I do. LOL. But I meant before I started to watch what I'm doing. I remember my thyroid doctor telling me especially after I gained all my weight back from my 2 radiations that I had to do to correct the number of my thyroid problems. Before my radiations, I was hyperactive and after doing 2 radiation, I went down to hypoactive. I asked my doctor why I was gaining my weight back. She said oh you're supposed to watch what you eat with some kind of snooty attitude. She had it in her head that I'm heavy cuz I'm an eater but we set her straight and she was real surprised bout it. There are some big gals who do eat all the time and that's their choice. But I don't eat like that. I did eat all the wrong stuff which was fried food. My fave food are pretty much chicken nuggets or chicken tenders depending where we are and fries. Yes! I used to go out all the time. That was my problem. Since starting this, I stopped going out to eat with my family and starting cooking at home. I've also limited my diet pop. Yes, granted there is no calories but there is that sugar in there so it's best to cut them out. To be honest, I haven't cut them out just yet. 2 cans or 1 bottle (24 oz) is my limit a day now. I used to drink them instead of drinking water. Now I'm drinking either Crystal Light or Fruit2O and plain water. Cuz I'm not crazy bout just plain water, I tend to drink more of the flavored ones but without the carb.
As for my exercises, I've started walking. I go to South Park and walk around the track. I now am walking around 4 times which means I'm walking 2 miles. I also go to Curves 2 to 3 times a week. I'm aiming for 3 but with the pain I've been experiencing makes it hard to go sometimes. I've gotten Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pound video. I'm working on trying to get in 45 mins a day with all the exercises and the walk that I do so I can lose that 100 pounds by Christmas. But as I said, it's better to limit the weight loss to 10 percent of your weight so I'm, at moment, working on the 35 lb weight loss and so far I've lost almost 11 lbs which means I only have another 24 more lbs to go before setting a new goal for weight loss.
Someone once asked if I was taking anything to help me lose weight. Before getting Bob's 'Are You Ready' book, I did try to use some weight loss shake. The reason I was only drinking that was cuz I was trying to get my calories up to 1600. Right now, I'm not even drinking those shakes cuz I'm able to eat that much calories and not have to worry bout not eating enough. I only did the shakes for a week. Did I lose anything? Nope, I didn't. Maybe if it was Slim Fast, I'm sure I would've lost weight then but I didn't want to cuz I was worried that once I get off of it, I would've gained my weight back so I didn't go with that. Sometime last year, I tried the Alli plan. I was thinking I might get back on it only to help me with my bowel movements. LOL. But then I thought if most of my food doesn't have too much fat in it, it prolly wouldn't help me at all and am thinking of getting that Smooth Move Tea and see if it'll help. I'll have to think bout it and I just have to make sure I count the calories if I drink some. LOL.
Well, I think that's it for now. Take care! Big hugz.
